On November 19, 2021, a high-level roundtable titled "We No Longer Want Victims to Commemorate; We Want to Live Our Lives Together" took place at the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The event gathered decision-makers from authorities responsible for road safety, particularly members of the National Council for Road Traffic Safety (CNSCR).
During the meeting, an analysis of road traffic accidents in the country over the past 10 months of 2021 was presented, along with aspects related to traffic-related injuries and the implementation of policies for establishing 30 km/h speed zones.
Given the importance of the topic, a dedicated session focused on the RADAR project (Risk Assessment on Danube Area Roads), during which the National Action Plan was presented. This plan, developed by road safety experts, aims to contribute to the development of a regional road safety strategy—one of the key outcomes of the RADAR project.
The working group members responsible for drafting the local strategy highly appreciated the presented materials and recommendations, emphasizing that these will serve as a crucial starting point for developing Moldova’s Action Plan and the National Road Safety Strategy for the next 10 years.
The convening of responsible authorities and the immediate implementation of concrete actions are urgent, as road tragedies must and can be stopped!
The event was organized by the Automobile Club of Moldova, in partnership with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, with the support of the World Health Organization, the Eastern Alliance for Safe and Sustainable Transport (EASST), and the FIA Foundation.
