On September 25, the Automobile Club of Moldova, in partnership with the National Patrol Inspectorate and the "Oratorul" Theater, held an event to donate child car seats to the taxi company "Taxi Club" in Moldova.
Ten child car seats of various categories were heartfully donated by ACM to taxi drivers, with the support of the Eastern Alliance for Safe and Sustainable Transport (EASST), OAMTC Betriebe GmbH (Austrian Automobile Club), Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), and civil society representatives, to ensure the safe transport of child passengers.
The donation event aims to raise awareness among passengers and parents about the importance of using seatbelts and child car seats, as well as to encourage civil society to donate unused child car seats to taxi companies or families in need who cannot afford to buy them. The main goal of the initiative is to equip at least 10 cars per taxi company operating in Moldova with a child restraint system.
Additionally, the event provided an excellent opportunity to train drivers on the proper installation of child car seats and the importance of fastening seatbelts in both front and rear seats. Taxi drivers received informative brochures and stickers, developed with the support of EASST, to distribute to passengers. Taxi drivers will also act as intermediaries, encouraging passengers to buckle up and take responsibility for the safety of children during car trips.
The initiative is part of EASST’s first regional campaign, #SavedByASeatbelt, spanning 10 countries. #SavedByASeatbelt is an active regional social media campaign complemented by similar events organized in each EASST member country, providing training, information, and mobilizing the public towards responsible traffic behavior!
