EASST partners meet to share experiences and discuss points of collaboration for safer roads

In September, Tatiana Mihailova, Vice-President of the Automobile Club of Moldova (ACM) travelled to Sarajevo to meet with our newest EASST partner organisation, the Bosnia and Herzegovina Automobile Club (BIHAMK).

The meeting was a great opportunity for our two EASST partners to share experiences and discuss potential points of collaboration.

Representing one of the founding member countries of EASST, Tatiana was able to present the long history of our network and share experiences and achievements of our projects over the years. BIHAMK also shared details of their road safety activities and innovations, providing services to drivers and Club members.

Road safety remains a critical challenge for Bosnia and Herzegovina, which has one of the worst fatality rates in Europe. Road fatality rates are over 50% higher than the EU average with half of road fatalities occurring amongst vulnerable road users.

Partnership and cross-border networking are at the foundation of EASST. Partners learn from one another to shape and develop new project ideas and initiatives based on what has or hasn’t worked elsewhere. They share resources and methodologies without the need to reinvent the wheel, often saving significant amounts of time and money. The ability to show local stakeholders and authorities the work being done elsewhere also helps partners advocate for change and builds confidence in their ability to deliver.

We are proud that EASST can provide a space for collaboration between our partners. We warmly welcome BIHAMK to our network and look forward to working together to implement projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina to make roads safer for everyone.
